The area was absolutely rotten with these guys. They would sneak into our backpacks while we ate lunch. Upper Lake Kananaskis is a beuatiful area but these guys have become so used to human presence that they have no fear of them whatsever. Not particularily great for them. The area is also in bear country however we didn't see any of those.
I had a squirrel like that one. She just showed up at my door during a rain storm. I ran to my kitchen and made a little peanut butter sandwich for her. She gobbled it right up and came back everyday for her little sandwich and brought along her babies over the years. She even trade me some of her treasures. If I left her food outside on the porch sometime I would find some odd twig of nut shell or something left behind. She lived many years then disappeared. Her name was Mitzie.
they get pretty bold sometimes! we have one that wanders around our yard everyday, he doesn't even run when we walk by. its almost like he waits for us to feed him haha
Heheh, they are. However there's about a zillion of them in the area and they have no fear of humans. They'll raid your bag or lunch if you're not diligent.
