Character:Lara Croft - Reborn Series:Tomb Raider

I figured, hey, I like Lara Croft and there's this contest going on . . . and why not? Heheh, anyhow, so this is my entry! It's not digital and I thought of applying colour to this to be more mainstream, but then decided to stay true to my style instead. If I place, I'll be thrilled. :) I wouldn't be surprised if I was the only person to submit in traditional media though. Hehehe. Hey, shoot for the stars, even if you think it's about as likely as marrying your favourite video game character. ;)

I'm a little disappointed in the game. I know it's an 'origin story'/'reboot' but by the end I didn't feel like I was playing with Lara. I felt like she was a wimpy teenager with some alright aim. I hate the whole 'a Survivor is born' crap. Lara's not a 'survivor' she goes out LOOKING for adventure, she doesn't just happen to be a world-famous archaeologist. Nor is she just thrown into high-stakes situations that she can't help, she seeks them out. Does she survive them? Yes, but just like anything else when you enjoy something chances are you'll be good at it. Something more like 'The birth of an adventurer' or something catchier. Survivor is a word that threw me off, and made me feel like the developers didn't really do their homework on the series or capture the enigma of Lara. I felt like they just made a younger female Nathan Drake without a fourth of the personality. Which is okay I guess, it can only get better from there.

Reboots can often be like that, where they lose the spirit of the character in an attempt to modernise them, forgetting the reasons why people liked it in the first place.
