IT'S EXPO TIME!!!

Journal Entry: Thu Apr 25, 2013, 8:06 AM

Tomorrow if the first day of the SOLD OUT, Calgary Expo! OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!

Right now, I'm sitting on the couch surrounded by all my packed up expo supplies. It's not long until I pack them all into my car and go set up my Artist Alley table (H09 - hint hint). Getting my prints this year has been an utter gong show, but they turned out beautifully. Still, I'm missing 3 of the 8x10s. I'm waiting to hear back from the print house to find out when I can get them.

For this year's expo, I got myself an awesome pin-up style dress to go along with the pin-up style of my drawings. I'm also introducing a new product, my ShadowCrafter posters in 18x24. As well, I did drawings of a couple of the expo's guests, namely Cary Elwes and Nathan Fillion. :) I'll be encouraging anyone who buys those to go get them autographed and come show me, then they can walk away with one of my markdown prints of the same size! That's right, this is also the first year I've done markdowns! There are quiet a few firsts this year. O.o

I'd list off all my prints, but I have a zillion of them. You'll just have to come by and check them out.

PRICES ARE:

$5 For 8 x 10 prints
$15 For 11 x 14 prints
$15 For the ShadowCrafter Poster (18 x 24)
$40 For Originals (11 x 14)!!!

MARKDOWNS ARE:
$2 For 8 x 10 prints
$10 For 11 x 14 prints

Wish me luck guys, this year I'm gunna have to make a zillion dollars to make up costs! Heheheh.

5 Steps To Change The World

Journal Entry: Thu Apr 11, 2013, 10:53 AM

How to stop bullying and other power related crimes:

1. Teach your children that NO violence is acceptable, not words or physical, unless you are protecting yourself, and teach them to protect themselves.

2. Teach your children respect. Teach them that everyone deserves to have their dignity, pride, and honor respected, unless they have proven through their actions towards others that they don't deserve it. Then, teach them to remove those people from their lives.

3. Teach your children self control and that all emotions are acceptable. Show them how to deal with the negative ones in a way that is productive and allows them to vent without taking it out on others.

4. If you see other people's children doing something horrible, step up and make it stop. You'd be amazed how the younger ones shy away when an adult tells them what they're doing is wrong and challenge their behaviour. One person stepping up can change that child permanently.

5. Teach yourself (even if you don't have children) the above. Change begins with the people who are being looked up to. Children, and even teenagers, are mirrors of the behaviours they see or are subject to. Responsibility falls on us all as adults to show them there are better ways to be happy than off someone else's suffering.

Free Stuff? Why yes I do have that!

Journal Entry: Fri Apr 5, 2013, 5:47 PM

Hey, just FYI on a special I'm running at my Artist Alley table: Buy one of my Nathan Fillion or Cary Elwes prints and bring it back signed by the actor, and get a free equal sized print from the bins! While supplies last, of course!

You might ask why I'd offer free prints. Because how you get them amuses me!

SQUEE! They turned out!!!

Journal Entry: Tue Apr 2, 2013, 6:10 PM

Last time I ordered my bookmarks I had to make some changes to the pictures to brighten them.  They still didn't turn out quite how I wanted them.

I ordered new ones and (though they took a while), they just showed up.

THEY ARE AMAZING!!! I'm so thrilled with them even though I didn't proof and didn't make adjustments to the images (which were of the same production run as the first I talked about).

So  yeah, Print Safari is amazing. I loveses them soooooo.

You can get a FREE bookmark by swinging by my expo table at the Calgary Expo in just a few weeks! Come on, say hi, take a bookmark, and check out my new prints and my first ever markdowns!

WHOO! Getting excited for the eeeeexxxppppoooooooo!

Looking For Love

Journal Entry: Fri Mar 15, 2013, 6:13 PM

Cheeky title is cheeky.  ;)

Hey guys, I'm trying to get the word about about my deviantART site and my Facebook like page: [link] . I'd appreciate any shout outs you can help with. My poor poor Facebook page is currently under 300 likes and I'd kinda like to change that.  I'd also like to increase my watchers on DA here.

My ultimate goal in life is to do what I've always wanted to for a living and to get there I needs the love, especially with a couple expos coming up. I keep running into setbacks, road blocks and other random frustrations, and honestly if there is anything I'm the hardest on myself about, it's the creative side. So anyways, I wanted to encourage you to share the love/nudity with others. Any shout out is a good shout out.

:) Thanks for the love and support, and keep the comments coming. I love them all!

So I've made a kind of sucky decision (especially after dropping a tonne of time into this today). I'm going to hold off on the artbook until I have more original content. What it really comes down to is where I am trying to go with my career. The last thing I need is to come off as a risk to potential agents because of my work with characters that I don't own the copyright for. *SIGH* Look out for it next year though!

I've already been starting to gear my stuff toward more original characters, and you'll see more of them as I plod forward.
Writer and artist, Shonna White, discusses breaking the mould of entertainment expos by choosing a more controversial subject  [link]
If you like (or maybe really really hate) Teddy Bears and you like things like the Walking Dead or horror flicks like I do (woo being scared!), then you have to go check this guy out. He's on DA as JohnnyFilmMaker [link] , real name Lee Howard. And because I know my audience, I've got to entice you with this pic of him, cause he's not just an amazing artist (if a little dark), not just a nice guy, not just a fellow Canadian (no I don't really know him, recently met him on Twitter), not just amazing at costuming, but he's also HOT.

(Thankfully, my husband accepts the fact that I'm a unrepentant male appreciator.)
But seriously, he can disturb me anytime.

I know he's looking to build his Facebook page  [link], so if you like his stuff like him on here, but also go like him on Facebook. We artists need to stick together.

The Quiet Room Bears aren't the only art he's done. I think he's particularly good at the black and white acrylic paintings he's posted, go check them out.
Deception, the Lost Infernal prequel is now live for Kobo for just $0.99. [link]

If you can, head on over and give it a review if you read it while it was available on DA. It would be doing me a HUGE favour!

I've also fed it to an aggregator site for Apple and Sony (and some other places). So look forward to more messages from me when those go through.

Wondering what Lost Infernal is? Imagine vampires and vampire hunters with no sparkles anywhere nearby. No hundred year old boys going back to high school. Learn more about it by reading the descriptions below, and going to www.lostinfernal.com [link]

Deception:
Lieutenant Wolf doesn't let emotion get in the way of performing her duty. Putting the Alley first has kept her safe and free. Yet, when she's asked to kill an ally of the man who sacrificed himself to save her life, the mission weighs heavily on her.

Curious about why all the Alley's information on the target came from the same source, she arranges to meet with their informant. What she learns is that he has engineered the whole thing, including her involvement. He offers her an alliance and power enough that she will never have to watch someone else die for her. The price of his tempting offer however, is to kill a friend of the man she loved.

Lost Infernal:
Estellia Highlander is the Alley's best vampire hunter. When she's ordered to kill a monster responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent people, a man considered a god by his own kind, she soon discovers that she is his next target.

To carry out her mission, she must face the horrors of a past that she has spent the last decade trying to forget. It is a path that will lead her to a Prophecy foretelling the end of mankind; a Prophecy even the vampires want to stop. Only by working together with the god Michael Bayne can this catastrophe be stopped.

The fate of the world lies in the hands of one man and one woman who want to kill each other.

Thanks guys
Deception, the Lost Infernal prequel is now live on Amazon, downloadable for Kindle devices for just $0.99. [link]

Thanks guys!

A Hard Executive Decision

Journal Entry: Sun Dec 2, 2012, 9:58 PM
I've decided to list Deception, the Lost Infernal short prequel, for both Kindle and Kobo. Since I couldn't post it for free, I've put it at about the cheapest the sites would let me, and made both sites about the same.  Currently, I'm waiting for the publishing to go through and for them to get listed. They'll be available within the next couple of days.

That means that from here on out a free version is only available on my website, www.lostinfernal.com [link] . It's a flash based version, which helps to protect my work a little as well.

I'm constantly looking for ways to get more exposure and while I love DA, it's really not fair to anyone who purchases to have the book free all over the internet. It may only be about .99 cents wasted, but I want to be fair. So free for anyone who finds my website all on their lonesome, and free to all of you who had already read it here or on Socialphy, but not so much anywhere else.  I've only left Part 1 up here on DA.

That being said, if you purchase the little book from either of these sources, and can show me at one of my convention booths, I'll have a little giveaway for you. It'll be my way of saying thanks for supporting me.

Look foward to some links to both the Kindle and Kobo version of the 6 part prequel as soon as it's done processing on both sights.

Thanks for all your support guys,

Shonna

Loathing In Hand, I Launch My New About Me Page

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 12, 2012, 3:17 PM
Have I ever mentioned how much I hate making websites? How the only reason I figure out how to do this stuff, is because I don't have a marketing budget yet?

Well, unhappy with my last About Me page on my website, I made a new one. I like it much better. But I had to make some compromises on what I wanted to do, because I ain't no codin' wizard. Hell, half the time I can't even spell in English, let alone learning a whole new language to make websites go.

So head on over and make me feel better about the time I spent on this damned thing.

So Far Nameless

Journal Entry: Wed Oct 3, 2012, 8:33 PM
It's been a while, but I finally got the urge to draw again. It actually started as my version of the Devil, but then I just started having a bit of fun with it, and now it doesn't really seem so much the big D-Man himself. There's quite a bit more work to do on it, but I've stuck a WIP picture up on both my Twitter and Facebook accounts. If you want to check it out, head over here:

This is just the initial design phase, and I already see a few things I'm going to modify.

Yeah, i do stick things up there that you don't see here, I only put finished products up here. :) Typically.

The Yera As A Print

To who ever requested the Yera as a print, sorry, I accidentally deleted your request. I'll upload a higher resolution image without the branding tonight for you. :)

Check out the website for more information: www.edmontonexpo.com

And guess who is going to be there? That's right, I AM! If you didn't make it in the Calgary Expo this year (cause DAMN it was craziness) you've got a second chance to pick up some art from yours truly! What great timing too, with X-Mas just around the corner.

Male appreciators, hide your significant others and come running on over to Artist's Alley to come check out my table!  Prices will be as they are quoted in my last journal post, and the same pieces will be available.

Twitter

Hey guys, I'm starting to get more active in using Twitter to reach out of people and companies I'm interested in promoting my work to. It would be a huge favour to me if you could follow me on Twitter and/or get other people to. Really, it's a desperate plea to show off that more than 32 people are interested in the stuff I do.
