If you like (or maybe really really hate) Teddy Bears and you like things like the Walking Dead or horror flicks like I do (woo being scared!), then you have to go check this guy out. He's on DA as JohnnyFilmMaker [link] , real name Lee Howard. And because I know my audience, I've got to entice you with this pic of him, cause he's not just an amazing artist (if a little dark), not just a nice guy, not just a fellow Canadian (no I don't really know him, recently met him on Twitter), not just amazing at costuming, but he's also HOT.

(Thankfully, my husband accepts the fact that I'm a unrepentant male appreciator.)
But seriously, he can disturb me anytime.

I know he's looking to build his Facebook page  [link], so if you like his stuff like him on here, but also go like him on Facebook. We artists need to stick together.

The Quiet Room Bears aren't the only art he's done. I think he's particularly good at the black and white acrylic paintings he's posted, go check them out.
Deception, the Lost Infernal prequel is now live for Kobo for just $0.99. [link]

If you can, head on over and give it a review if you read it while it was available on DA. It would be doing me a HUGE favour!

I've also fed it to an aggregator site for Apple and Sony (and some other places). So look forward to more messages from me when those go through.

Wondering what Lost Infernal is? Imagine vampires and vampire hunters with no sparkles anywhere nearby. No hundred year old boys going back to high school. Learn more about it by reading the descriptions below, and going to www.lostinfernal.com [link]

Deception:
Lieutenant Wolf doesn't let emotion get in the way of performing her duty. Putting the Alley first has kept her safe and free. Yet, when she's asked to kill an ally of the man who sacrificed himself to save her life, the mission weighs heavily on her.

Curious about why all the Alley's information on the target came from the same source, she arranges to meet with their informant. What she learns is that he has engineered the whole thing, including her involvement. He offers her an alliance and power enough that she will never have to watch someone else die for her. The price of his tempting offer however, is to kill a friend of the man she loved.

Lost Infernal:
Estellia Highlander is the Alley's best vampire hunter. When she's ordered to kill a monster responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent people, a man considered a god by his own kind, she soon discovers that she is his next target.

To carry out her mission, she must face the horrors of a past that she has spent the last decade trying to forget. It is a path that will lead her to a Prophecy foretelling the end of mankind; a Prophecy even the vampires want to stop. Only by working together with the god Michael Bayne can this catastrophe be stopped.

The fate of the world lies in the hands of one man and one woman who want to kill each other.

Thanks guys

A Hard Executive Decision

Journal Entry: Sun Dec 2, 2012, 9:58 PM
I've decided to list Deception, the Lost Infernal short prequel, for both Kindle and Kobo. Since I couldn't post it for free, I've put it at about the cheapest the sites would let me, and made both sites about the same.  Currently, I'm waiting for the publishing to go through and for them to get listed. They'll be available within the next couple of days.

That means that from here on out a free version is only available on my website, www.lostinfernal.com [link] . It's a flash based version, which helps to protect my work a little as well.

I'm constantly looking for ways to get more exposure and while I love DA, it's really not fair to anyone who purchases to have the book free all over the internet. It may only be about .99 cents wasted, but I want to be fair. So free for anyone who finds my website all on their lonesome, and free to all of you who had already read it here or on Socialphy, but not so much anywhere else.  I've only left Part 1 up here on DA.

That being said, if you purchase the little book from either of these sources, and can show me at one of my convention booths, I'll have a little giveaway for you. It'll be my way of saying thanks for supporting me.

Look foward to some links to both the Kindle and Kobo version of the 6 part prequel as soon as it's done processing on both sights.

Thanks for all your support guys,

Shonna

Loathing In Hand, I Launch My New About Me Page

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 12, 2012, 3:17 PM
Have I ever mentioned how much I hate making websites? How the only reason I figure out how to do this stuff, is because I don't have a marketing budget yet?

Well, unhappy with my last About Me page on my website, I made a new one. I like it much better. But I had to make some compromises on what I wanted to do, because I ain't no codin' wizard. Hell, half the time I can't even spell in English, let alone learning a whole new language to make websites go.

So head on over and make me feel better about the time I spent on this damned thing.

So Far Nameless

Journal Entry: Wed Oct 3, 2012, 8:33 PM
It's been a while, but I finally got the urge to draw again. It actually started as my version of the Devil, but then I just started having a bit of fun with it, and now it doesn't really seem so much the big D-Man himself. There's quite a bit more work to do on it, but I've stuck a WIP picture up on both my Twitter and Facebook accounts. If you want to check it out, head over here:

This is just the initial design phase, and I already see a few things I'm going to modify.

Yeah, i do stick things up there that you don't see here, I only put finished products up here. :) Typically.

Hey guys, I'm starting to get more active in using Twitter to reach out of people and companies I'm interested in promoting my work to. It would be a huge favour to me if you could follow me on Twitter and/or get other people to. Really, it's a desperate plea to show off that more than 32 people are interested in the stuff I do.

This Is Just Insane!

Journal Entry: Sat Jul 14, 2012, 6:35 PM
It's not like sexy men with long dark hair is a new concept. Poses are often very similar to each other, if not identical, as the body can only move in a finite amount of ways. But sometimes, things come together in a strange and weird way that is just insane.

You all remember my Michael Bayne drawing right? This one here:

Today I came across an image on DeviantArt that was just ridiculously similar in general character appearance and pose. The thing is, this person posted their image in 2008!!! (mine went up in 2011) It's obvious the whole design isn't the same,

I LOVE this image this artist's image, and in fact will be going back to his gallery to favourite a bunch more when I'm done here. This peice is well executed, suggestive, and beautiful.

That is absolutely insane!  That being said, obviously the facial features are different, and Michael lacks feathers but still! The design is actually so similar that I feel the need to quote the sources here to deflect people thinking I copied it!

The model who was the pose inspiration  for my work is named Kerry Degman, if you google his name you'll see lots of tasty images, including the one I used. (I don't want to point you directly to an image because I don't want to end up taking you to a website you may not want to have in your browser history.) This was actually one of the few times I didn't feel the need to modify the pose in the reference I was using.

The charcter, of course, is my Michael Bayne, who I've been drawing since I was about 14 (though they're shoddy images, no where near what I do now.)

I was so dumbfounded by this, that I actually felt the need to tell everybody about how dumbfounded I was!

Okay, so now that you know how blown away I am, go check out the artist's gallery for more awesomeness.

Finally! (grumble, grumble)

I've been nitpicking the crap out of Deception - Part 5 (those of you following me on Facebook already know that). No beginning to that part was good enough, and I got so pissed off with it yesterday that it was hard to sleep. Essentially, it broke down to symantics and the first three paragraphs were not up to par. I rewrote the beginning of it many many times, always reverting back to the original in sheer frustration.

Tonight, I managed to get something down that I liked. It flows, it works well, and damn it, it's better than the original. This section though is uber important. Wolf takes on Simon Delaney and in that, the whole purpose of the title is revealed. It's emotionally charged and couldn't just have the boring freaking start that I had for it.

Tomorrow (Saturday), I'll give it a read over to look for stupid mistakes, and then I should be able to post. It'll probably be the evening when it goes up though.

I think it's quiet fortunate that I don't run into this issue too often. If I did, I'd probably stop writing to reevaluate my sanity.

Correct Me If I'm Wrong

Journal Entry: Fri Jul 6, 2012, 1:27 PM
So, feel free to let me know if you're reading any of my writing and you see an error. I'm whacking my head against a wall about a couple that I found today (chucked instead of chuckle, is a good one.). That, and I have an unhealthy obsession with commas, apparently. ,,,,,,,,,,

Hey, I've got to learn somehow!

My Addiction, My Other (other) Workspace

I'm just about to get to editting on that upcoming prequel I'm writing, but I needed to get my blog done first. I'm a day late on it, and I'm trying to be good here.

So head on over, see pictures of where I take off to every Monday, and learn a bit more about me. :D

Advice?

Journal Entry: Thu Jun 14, 2012, 6:37 PM
The first prequel short story for Lost Infernal is now written in first draft. I'm now beginning cleaning operations, or editing as you might call it. Once that's done, I'll be posting on DA a bit at a time.

So, any advice from the DA community on posting writing ( taking into consideration that I haven't done it before).

BAFFLED! Squeenix, you're weird

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 4, 2012, 9:59 PM
Alright, maybe one of you can let me in on why Squeenix renames established characters for the Kingdom Hearts and Dissidia series.

First there was Squall from FF8 turning into Leon. Now, I'm looking into the Dilan/Xaldin character, for the next picture I'm doing. I've already decided to use the Xaldin design (although the request was for Dilan. Sorry, the Xaldin design is just more interesting and challenging.) But seriously, WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE, other than Xaldin looks like a bad ass and Dilan looks like Xaldin's preparing himself for a visit from his parol officer? Why do they have different names? Why is this not the only time Squeenix has renamed characters for these series?!

SERIOUSLY, WTF?
